Are you new to the Pittsburgh area, looking for packers and movers near you, or planning a visit? Here’s good news. You have a lot to look forward to as you discover Pittsburgh and all it has to offer. This is a fabulous city. I dare say no one is better qualified to comment on life in this city than our local packers and movers at Weleski Transfer. Our family-owned and operated Pittsburgh moving company has deep roots here—and we are glad to share our love of Pittsburgh with you, especially if you are thinking of settling here.View from person discovering Pittsburgh at an outdoor restaurant

Weleski movers are from Pittsburgh themselves. They are privy to inside info about living in the Steel City. Pittsburgh moving companies know things like the best schools and the coolest attractions. They know where you can find the tastiest fish dinner during Lent, the meatiest bowl of chili on a Saturday afternoon, or the best philly cheesesteaks.

Every one of Pittsburgh’s 90 neighborhoods is different, each with its own unique social, commercial, and aesthetic vibe. While we don’t necessarily prefer one neighborhood over another, we do have a few favorite haunts. Here are some places you may want to check out as you explore the city.

Pittsburgh Restaurants

Like to eat? Okay, dumb question. We think the Thai food at Pusadee’s Garden is to die for. You’ll find it downtown in the Lawrenceville neighborhood. While you’re in that vicinity, check out Industry Public House, a pub with comfort food and craft beers. They have special pricing during social hour (Monday-Friday, 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm).

We think you’ll enjoy these choice spots in the Strip District, a bit southwest of Lawrenceville along the Allegheny. Gaucho, a Latin American themed restaurant, serves wood-fired grilled steaks. Roland’s Seafood Grill is known for fresh shellfish; they also feature live entertainment. If you have a hankering to cook your own dishes in the Mexican tradition, visit Reyna Foods for fresh tamales, tortillas, and a wide selection of authentic Mexican groceries.

Pittsburgh Attractions

Of course, Pittsburgh has several big entertainment attractions. Here are a few that belong on everybody’s list: The Andy Warhol Museum (North Shore area), the Children’s Museum in the Allegheny Center neighborhood (just north of the Warhol Museum), and the Duquesne Incline which takes you up Mount Washington for a fabulous view of the city (located on the south shore of the two rivers’ confluence).
