’Tis the Season that Moves the Weleski Movers

As Weleski movers and our families welcome this “most wonderful time of the year,” we can’t help but think about those in our community who are struggling: the dad who’s company is downsizing; the family that’s behind on rent when the car engine goes out; the family torn by domestic violence. How will they experience the joy and peace of Christmas? Our movers help share the holiday spirit by volunteering for local charities. Two of our programs this holiday season are Angel Tree & Adopt a Family.

One way we help is through Angel Tree, a project of the Saint Anthony Guild at Mount Saint Peter Parish in New Kensington. Andrea Scalise, a Weleski employee and the guild president, explains that families who qualify for assistance write down their children’s clothing sizes and wishes for toys. With donations from parishioners, guild members purchase the items. On the Monday after Thanksgiving, the local K-Mart extends a special discount to the guild and allows its members to shop before the store opens to the public. Weleski Transfer provides a truck and movers to transport the many items to Mount St. Peter Church for distribution to the families. This year,  we handled quite a haul—enough clothing and gifts to delight 113 children. (Angel Tree also yielded groceries in the form of gift cards at Giant Eagle—helping set tables and stock pantries for 35 families.)

Adopt a Family

For the third year, employees at Weleski movers (including sister companies Weleski Truck Repair and Weleski Self Storage) are grateful participants in “Adopt a Family.” This project is administered by Alle-Kiski HOPE Center, a local non-profit that serves families affected by domestic violence. The center reaches out to those it has helped during the year and writes down things they could use. This year, we’ve adopted two families: one, a mother with two daughters and a son; the other, a mother with three sons. We posted their wish lists in our office and our employees are signing up to donate the requested items. For confidentiality, the center does not reveal the names of recipients; we label the gifts with numbers that indicate who gets to unwrap them.

Although we don’t see the faces of our beneficiaries, we can imagine what they look like. Just imagine your own joy of a Christmas past, the excitement you felt at receiving that longed-for gift. After all, every gift is an expression of love. What could be more fitting this time of year?

Moving Companies With Home Court Advantage

Make an online search for moving companies, and you’ll see a lot of names come up on your screen. Which one is right for you? The answer depends on what you’re looking for.Skyline of Pittsburgh focused on Heinz Field

All moving companies have what you might call a “home court advantage” in terms of service area. That is, their location enables them to serve nearby customers most efficiently. Weleski is headquartered in Tarentum, Pennsylvania, 20 miles from the heart of Pittsburgh. We also have full-service moving and storage locations in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and Cleveland, Ohio. So we are positioned to provide excellent customer service not only to the Pittsburgh metro area, but to the entire western half of Pennsylvania and to the northern and eastern regions of Ohio.

Our Home Court Advantage

Here are the advantages we give our customers over other Cleveland and Pittsburgh moving companies.

Awarded Quality

At Weleski, we strive for service that delights, so quality is our prime motivator. It’s the reason for the referrals and recommendations we get from customers. It’s the reason for our long-running (15 consecutive years) achievement of the Milt Hill Quality Award — the highest honor for an Atlas Agent. You could say service excellence is non-negotiable. Quality is the very basis of our family business that spans four generations. So, we believe it is the first thing any family should look for when looking for Pittsburgh or Cleveland moving companies.

ProMover® Certification

That said, how do you know if particular moving companies will indeed deliver the quality you expect? For starters, look to see that the moving company carries the ProMover® designation. This mark signifies that the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA) itself vouches for the company. AMSA is the industry’s largest professional association, and it administers the program to protect consumers from disreputable moving companies—of which, unfortunately, there are quite a few.

Trusted Movers

Another way you can tell about the quality of moving companies is through their representatives. Are they professional in their communications by phone and email? When you meet the representative for an in-home estimate of our moving services, you have the chance to ask questions about the company. You can learn a lot about the quality of a company through its employees. Our movers strive for personal and professional excellence. We are proud to say the quality of our service is reflected in the quality of our employees.

You’ll see lots of Ohio and Pennsylvania moving companies. I recommend you choose one that has reliable industry credentials, a proven history of quality, references from delighted customers, unquestionable professionalism, and services in your neighborhood.

Cleveland: A Great Place to Work and Play

Cleveland has come a long way over the last few decades to become a world class destination for living, buy working, and visiting. One of the most recent feathers in its fedora is being chosen as host city for the 2016 Republican Convention. There will be drama!

You’ve heard of LeBron James, star of the Cleveland Cavaliers. And you know the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland (home to that famous, sparkling white glove worn by the “King of Pop”). These are but two of the attractions galore you’ll find in this community on the shore of Lake Erie.

Take the Cleveland Aquarium, for example. It has over 5,000 awesome creatures in freshwater and salt-water tanks. You can “get jiggy” with the critters if you’ve a mind… stroke a stingray or swim with sharks. Not for the faint of heart! Cleveland, Ohio skyline

If you’re into art, check out the Cleveland Museum of Art. It’s one of the finest in North America, and admission to the permanent collection is free. A recent $350 million renovation makes it a must-see on your list of attractions. Another must-see: the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, especially if you like dinosaurs.

When someone sang that it’s happening at the zoo, I’m pretty sure they were referring to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. It’s huge, and hugely fun. It’s also home to one of the larger collections of monkeys and apes in the country.

Cleveland has no shortage of gastronomic delights, from restaurants spanning every genre to wineries to breweries, including the Hofbräuhaus where you can eat, drink, dance, and release your inner German. If you’re wanting to do your own cooking, check out over 100 food vendors in the West Side Market. You’ll be amazed at the quality and variety of foods.

If your musical tastes tend toward the classical, you might like to know the Cleveland Orchestra is considered by some to be the best in the world. And the antique ambience of Severance Hall makes for a magical musical venue. You’ll be transported.

We’ve only scratched the surface of what you can see and do here. With so much activity, people are coming and going all the time. The same is true for people moving in and out. Which is why Weleski Cleveland movers maintains a full-service branch location just outside Cleveland in Brooklyn, Ohio. When you plan a move to Cleveland or Northern Ohio, contact us!
